National Highways have informed us that they will be carrying out maintenance and improvement works to the A64 during the remainder of 2022 in to 2023, improving journeys and safety for the thousands of drivers who use the A64 every day.
Improvements will be taking place from the Askham Bryan junction, as far as Scarborough, including lighting upgrades, resurfacing and drainage works.
The most local junction affected will be the Askham Bryan junction, with the renewal of lighting columns and replacement of lighting units with LED lights. This work is planned for late autumn and will involve various slip road closures.
Further plans include carrying out substantial work to improve the capacity of the Askham Bryan junction, to reduce congestion on the eastbound exit slip road. It is likely that these works will commence in summer 2023, subject to a number of 3rd party approvals and following some major gas diversions required in advance.
We will endeavour to keep residents updated as we receive further information, please keep an eye on the website for updates in the Community Noticeboard.
The total investment is around £5 million this financial year (2022-2023); full details of all junctions and areas affected can be found on the National Highways website.
