Parish Councillors met with City of York Councillor Paula Widdowson, who is the Executive Member with waste collection, as part of her portfolio, to discuss concerns over the recent CYC recycling survey. We expressed our concerns with regard to the leading nature of the questions, which did not enable people to register their real concerns, and also queried the need for questions on ethnicity, religion, gender etc. Our comments were noted.
We also raised concerns about any changes to current practices. Cllr Widdowson confirmed that no decisions had as yet been made with regard to the frequency of recycling collections and that the findings of the survey would be thoroughly analysed before any final decisions were made. She did assure us, however, that there would be no changes to grey bin collections and that in the future green bins would be emptied on a year-round basis.
