Keeping our Cycle Path Safe
16/11/2020
These have been invaluable assets during “Lockdown” and have been incredibly well used. It has been a wonderful facility for cyclists and walkers during the last few months.
However, there have been some problems with pedestrians unaware of cyclists approaching from behind, not ringing a bell or calling out to alert walkers of their presence. We would encourage all users of the path to afford courtesy to others. If cycling, please alert walkers if approaching from behind as not everybody can hear you coming; if walking, please be aware that the path is also used by cyclists.
Please also remember to observe social distancing guidelines.
In Knapton, cyclists exiting onto the road in the village must be alert to vehicles approaching along Main Street.
Northfield Lane Knapton:
With the resurfacing work completed on the footpath/bridleway/cycle track from Knapton to Rufforth there have been some parking issues on Northfield Lane. Although the majority of people park considerately, we have had to install double yellow lines in places, to ensure large farm vehicles can access the fields. We urge everyone parking in the area to do so safely.
